1. Agreement to Terms

These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your access to and use of Aufi, including the Aufi mobile applications for Android and iOS, the Aufi browser extension for Google Chrome, and the website located at aufi.io (collectively, the "Services"), operated by Aufi Studio ("Aufi", "we", "us", or "our").

By installing, accessing, or using any part of the Services, you agree to be bound by these Terms. If you do not agree to these Terms, do not install or use the Services.

2. Nature of the Services

Aufi is a personal reading, listening, and accessibility tool designed to turn web text, EPUBs, and documents into spoken audio via Text-to-Speech (TTS) engines, with optional automated machine translation and text rewriting.

3. Content You Open or Import

1. Your Responsibility: You are solely responsible for any web pages, URLs, EPUB/PDF files, and documents that you open, import, process, translate, rewrite, store, or sync with the Services ("User Content"). You affirm and warrant that you hold all necessary legal rights and permissions to access, convert, and use such content under applicable copyright laws and the terms of the respective origin websites.
2. Strictly Personal, Non-Commercial Use: Audio output, synthesized speech, translations, AI rewrites, and downloaded text created via the Services are strictly for your private, individual, non-commercial use. You may not sell, broadcast, redistribute, publicly perform, or share synthesized audio or copies of third-party copyrighted materials.
3. Suggested and Third-Party Websites: Any lists of suggested domains, popular webnovel directories, or search links provided in the Services are offered solely as convenience bookmarks. Aufi does not own, manage, monitor, or endorse third-party websites and assumes no liability for their content, availability, or legal compliance.
4. AI Translations and Rewriting: Automated translations (e.g., via Google Translate) and AI rewrites (e.g., via Google Gemini) are generated algorithmically by third-party services. They are provided "as is" without warranty of accuracy, grammatical perfection, or contextual completeness.

4. Sync Across Devices (Google Drive Integration)

Aufi offers optional cross-device synchronization for Premium subscribers to keep their personal reading progression consistent across devices.

1. What Sync Does: When enabled, sync replicates your Aufi application data—including Story Memory, book/document metadata in your Library, reading history, current chapter reading positions, and text replacements—between your signed-in Android, iOS, and Chrome extension instances using your Google account. Audio files are never synced to cloud storage.
2. Storage Location in Your Own Google Drive: Synced data is stored exclusively in the private Application Data folder (drive.appdata) of your personal Google Drive account and counts toward your Google Drive storage quota. Aufi does not retain copies of your synced library or stories on our own servers. Your use of Google Drive is governed by Google's Terms of Service.
3. Sync Limitations: Individual book/document files exceeding 50 MB will not be synced. If your Google Drive storage is full, sync will pause until storage space is freed. Listening history older than 30 days is automatically pruned from your devices and your Drive sync folder.
4. Disconnection and Data Deletion: You may disconnect sync or delete all Aufi sync data from your Google Drive at any time inside the app by going to Profile → Sync across devices. You can also revoke Aufi's Google Drive access at any time through Google Account Security Settings or delete hidden app data in Google Drive web settings.
5. No Guarantee: Sync functionality depends upon active network connectivity and Google Drive API availability. We do not guarantee uninterrupted, conflict-free, or lossless synchronization. You are advised to maintain independent backups of critical files.

5. Subscriptions and Payments

Aufi offers free usage tiers as well as paid Premium subscriptions. Subscriptions unlock extended listening quotas, AI translation/rewriting capabilities, on-device offline voice synthesis, and cross-device sync.

• Billing: In-app subscriptions are billed through Google Play (for Android) or Apple App Store (for iOS) under their respective payment terms. Subscriptions automatically renew unless cancelled at least 24 hours prior to the end of the current billing cycle.
• Cancellation & Refunds: You can manage or cancel your subscription at any time within your Google Play or App Store account settings. Refunds are handled in accordance with Google Play and Apple App Store refund policies.

6. Copyright Complaints and DMCA Policy

Aufi respects intellectual property rights and adheres to the Digital Millennium Copyright Act ("DMCA") and international copyright treaties.

If you are a copyright owner or authorized agent and believe that any content made accessible through our Services (such as suggested bookmarks or links) infringes your copyright, please submit a written notification to our Designated Copyright Agent at:

Your notification must include:

• Identification of the copyrighted work claimed to have been infringed;
• Identification of the material or link claimed to be infringing and information reasonably sufficient to locate it within the Services;
• Your contact information (name, address, telephone number, and email);
• A statement that you have a good faith belief that use of the material is not authorized by the copyright owner, its agent, or the law;
• A statement, under penalty of perjury, that the information in the notification is accurate and that you are authorized to act on behalf of the owner;
• Your physical or electronic signature.

Repeat Infringers: In accordance with applicable law, Aufi maintains a policy of terminating or blocking access for users or domains identified as repeat infringers.

7. Prohibited Uses

You agree not to:

• Use the Services for any unlawful, infringing, or fraudulent purpose;
• Attempt to reverse engineer, decompile, or tamper with the Services' proprietary code or DRM protections;
• Interfere with, overburden, or disrupt the integrity or performance of the Services or connected cloud TTS backends;
• Use automated scripts or bots to exhaust or circumvent service quotas.

8. Disclaimer of Warranties and Limitation of Liability

THE SERVICES ARE PROVIDED ON AN "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE" BASIS WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EITHER EXPRESS OR IMPLIED. TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, AUFI DISCLAIMS ALL WARRANTIES, INCLUDING MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, AND NON-INFRINGEMENT.

IN NO EVENT SHALL AUFI STUDIO, ITS DIRECTORS, EMPLOYEES, OR AGENTS BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES ARISING OUT OF OR IN CONNECTION WITH YOUR USE OF THE SERVICES OR USER CONTENT.

9. Governing Law

These Terms shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of Singapore, without regard to conflict of law principles. Any legal suit, action, or proceeding arising out of or related to these Terms shall be instituted in the competent courts of Singapore.
